At the Cloud Security Alliance APAC Congress 2016, a Mobile App Security Vetting platform was showcased by Cloudatix Biz India Ventures, It also announced a new national standard for mobile app security testing.
Cloudatix CEO, Sanjay Sharma, explained the motivation behind the research initiative and attributed it to creation of a security standard for mobile app owners, developers, and mobile app security testing. An associate of Cloudatix, K-Grid Knowledge Ventures, along with Institute of Informatics and Communication, are taking the lead on the research.
Cloudatix has allied with Tanosecure, an executive member of the Cloud Security Alliance. Sanjay Sharma said Cloudatix is “excited to work with University of Delhi and Tanosecure” to work on this and said it is “inspired by global mobile app security testing initiative by Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).”
The new standard has been thought of for “designing the Mobile Application Security Vetting Engine to run the security testsof mobile apps for major platforms and Original Enterprise Manufactuers. This will enable the enterprises, app stores and devs to subject their applications to security benchmarks that will expose the vulnerabilities embedded in the mobile applications,” added Sharma.
“It is imperative to have a look at global initiatives on mobile app security, especially the ones carried out in APAC owing to the similar mobile application penetration and usage patterns, while developing the Indian Standard”, said Keng Lee, COO, Tanosecure & Co-Chair Mobile Working Group, CSA.
The focus of the mobile app security testing framework will help app devs write secure mobile code. Sharma also said that the Indian Standard will inculcate global best practices for supporting India’s ITES support.
